When I first begin this blog, I did so with the intention of documenting my experiences of creating art. I enjoyed creating and posting, but it didn't seem to jive with exactly what I envisioned. I started to discover other creative moms who have started their own blogs and even businesses: ARTBAR Emily Neuburger Collage Collage and The Art Pantry just to name a few. I was drawn to these sites because they had all somehow rediscovered their love for creating and were exploring ways to make it accessible.
For those of you who don't know me, I have a background in studying art and public art - looking at ways to create participatory experiences and social spaces for new art audiences. Bingo! That is why I was drawn to these creative spaces and what they were doing. And I didn't just discover these creative mamas online, I discovered them in person. My friends from art school, colleagues or new moms I had met, many of them had a side hustle making and creating. So today I am switching gears. My blog will primarily be a platform to highlight "creative mamas" and I am happy to say I have a list of moms signed up and ready to go! If you are interested, please fill out the Show Off contact form. We will conduct an interview - just a list of simple questions to get the conversation started and we will also highlight your project and/or work on the Creative Spaces page. Don't worry - you don't need a formal background in art. We have moms we will spotlight who paint, draw, sew, create amazing things with their families and on their own, refinish furniture and many other things. If you sell or show your work, we will brag about that, too. Don't talk yourself out of submitting something because we could all use a little extra attention. Ok back to work - coming soon our first creative mama!
